Instead of starting with definitions, Tar-O-Nocculys invites players to interpret tarot cards using intuition first. As each player shares their interpretation, the table adds their insights, revealing deeper patterns within the cards. Only after intuition and community insight are explored do traditional tarot keywords appear — confirming the wisdom that was already present.
By the end of the game, players often realize their intuition was guiding them all along.

Open the Space
Each game begins by opening the space and setting intentions together.
Moonchild – Your Guide
Moonchild is the guide for the game and can be played as a PC or NPC. Moonchild helps players notice what to look for in the cards and offers prompts when a player feels stuck.
Choose the First Player
The player whose birthday is closest to April 1st starts the game.
Build the Spread
Players take turns interpreting tarot cards and gradually build a spread as the game progresses.
Beginner Game Structure
For a beginner game, each player takes 3 turns. During each turn the player interprets 2 tarot cards, creating a 6-card spread by the end of the game.
Share Insights
Players interpret their cards using intuition first. After a player shares their interpretation, the other players add their insights, creating deeper layers of meaning within the spread.
Keywords Last
Only after interpretations are shared does Moonchild introduce traditional tarot keywords — as confirmation, not correction.
Interpret the Spread
By the end of the game, players interpret the spread they have built, either on their own or with Moonchild’s help.
